360 Survey - CASE STUDY
Designing a unique 360° survey and team development process.
Issue: The Problem
The performance of a senior leadership team had diminished significantly. The team was beset with poor communication, low levels of trust and lack of co-operation. The leader sort an intervention to rebuild collaboration and productivity in her team.
Ideas: Our Thinking
Drawing on the principles of team dynamics we sought a solution that would engage all members on a singular task. We
recommended the team co-create a team development process.
Innovation: What We Did
In the first phase we co-designed a new survey instrument. This involved focus sessions with the whole team to identify drivers of team success. We compared and contrasted these with best practice literature to create in a unique survey instrument. Observations on group dynamics and collaboration were discussed as the team undertook the task.
In the second phase one on one debriefs were conducted with each team member. This lead to a team off site to consolidate principles for collaboration, deepen individual work preferences, and role accountabilities.
Impact: The effect
The program assisted the team to
- Learn through a shared task
- Identify behaviours enabling and blocking collaboration
- Develop new team norms and leadership expectations
- Understand the drivers of their team mates
- Better appreciate their own strengths and challenges
